Dr. Jack and Kay Reinhardt founded the company in 1972. Jack worked as a researcher for Dow Chemical and Shell chemicals companies for 14 years. Jack was a plant pathologist and used various herbicides and pesticides to kill the fungus, insects, and diseases that hurt plants. Kay and Jack moved their family from North Florida to Central Florida in 1964. At their Orlando house, they grew many different types of plants, e.g. oranges, bananas, sugar cane, and pineapple, which they had planted themselves. Jack and Kay still lived in this house even during the time when Kay remarried in 1994. Kay and Jack had six offspring, of which Dr. Jack was the oldest. Rick Reinhardt is the President of Dr. Jack’s Lawn Care, Termite, and Pest Control and Dr. Jack’s only son. He received a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Florida and is therefore well-qualified to lead a company. Jim Reinhardt, Dr. Jack’s youngest son, who has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and minor in Entomology from the University of Florida, is the company's Vice President. Jim has introduced various termite and structural pest control programs to the company. Kay Reinhardt, the company's co-founder, was in charge of office duties, which included payroll, payments, and human resource. She still performs some of these duties even at an advanced age. Jack and Kay are remembered by the company’s current and past employees as heroes, mentors, and role models.
